Communicating Effectively With Your Legal Team
A guide to our partnership.
At Wanta Thome, we view our relationship with you as a strategic partnership. Your active participation is crucial to our shared success, and the key to a strong partnership is clear and efficient communication. This guide outlines how we can work together most effectively.
Our Commitment to You
We are committed to providing a transparent, client-centered experience. You can expect our team to provide you with regular updates and clear explanations about the status of your case, our strategy, and what to expect next.
How to Get the Fastest, Most Effective Response
To ensure your questions are answered quickly by the right person, please follow these guidelines:
- Direct Your Question to the Right Team Member. As we outlined in the "Meet Your Legal Team" article, each person on your team has a specific role. Contacting the right person directly is the fastest way to get an answer.
- For questions about legal strategy or settlement options: Contact your Attorney.
- For questions about case facts or preparing for your deposition: Contact your Litigation Paralegal.
- For questions about scheduling, deadlines, or document filing: Contact your Case Manager.
- Be Responsive. Your timely response to our requests for information or documents is critical to maintaining your case's momentum. Delays in communication can cause delays in the legal process.
- Keep Us Updated. Please notify your Case Manager immediately if your contact information (phone number, email, or mailing address) changes.
Choosing the Right Communication Channel
To help us provide the most effective support, please use the following guide for how to contact us:
-
Email is Best for Most Inquiries. For non-urgent questions, providing updates, or sending documents, email is the preferred method. It creates a clear written record for your file and allows our team to provide a thoughtful response without interrupting urgent work for other clients.
-
Phone Calls are for Urgent & Time-Sensitive Matters. If you have a truly urgent issue, such as a deadline that is less than 48 hours away or a critical new development, please call our main office line. Our team will ensure the message is relayed to the appropriate person for immediate attention.
-
Scheduled Calls for In-Depth Discussions. If you wish to have a longer, more detailed conversation about your case strategy or other complex topics, please email your Attorney or Paralegal to schedule a dedicated time for a call. This ensures you have their undivided attention and that they are fully prepared for the conversation.
Important: If the Opposing Party Contacts You
Do not speak with them. Under no circumstances should you communicate with your former employer or their attorneys about your case. Your only response should be, "My attorneys at Wanta Thome represent me, and you will need to speak with them." Then, contact our office immediately to let us know you were contacted.
Our Firm's Response Times
Our legal team is dedicated to your case, but they are frequently in depositions, mediations, or court and may not be able to respond instantly. We are committed to responding to all non-urgent calls and emails within 24 business hours.
