On behalf of our entire firm, welcome. We know the events that brought you here were hard, and we know that hiring a lawyer is a big step. Thank you for trusting us with it. This page explains who we are, what it means now that we represent you, and where to find answers as your case moves forward.

Who we are

Wanta Thome is a law firm that represents employees, not employers. Our cases involve things like discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wrongful termination. Standing up for workers is all we do.

You now have a team behind you, not just one lawyer. Your attorney leads your case, and a paralegal and case manager support it every day. You can read about who does what on the Meet Your Legal Team page.

What it means to be represented

When you signed your retainer agreement (the contract that makes us your lawyers), a few important things changed.

We speak for you. From now on, we deal with your employer and their lawyers about your claims. If anyone from the other side contacts you about the case, you do not have to respond. Just tell us right away.

Your communications with us are protected. What you tell your legal team is confidential under attorney-client privilege, a rule that keeps your conversations with your lawyers private. Be open with us, even about facts that worry you. We can only protect you from what we know about.

You do not get a bill every month. We represent clients on a contingency basis, which means our fee comes out of any money recovered in your case. The details are in your retainer agreement, and your legal team is glad to walk through it with you.

We will be honest with you. No lawyer can promise a result. What we can promise is that we will work your case thoroughly, tell you the truth about its strengths and risks, and make sure you always know what is happening and why. Employment cases commonly take a year or more to resolve, and we will help you understand each stage as it comes.
