What is an 'Exhibit'?

A specific piece of evidence presented in a formal proceeding.

An "exhibit" is a specific document or object that has been formally marked and presented as evidence in a legal proceeding, such as a deposition or trial.

For example, when an important email is shown to a witness during their deposition, it will be marked with an identifier (like "Plaintiff's Exhibit 1") and become part of the official record of the case.
